Curriculum
The Adventures in Preschool Christian Pre-K curriculum is based on the Texas Pre- Kindergarten Guidelines, which emphasizes research-based instructional strategies that are developmentally appropriate. It is a thematic, integrated curriculum. For example, if the students are learning about 'Apples/Harvest," they may also learn about the Trinity. An apple is just one apple even though it is made up of different parts, so too is God composed of different parts (The Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit). The children may then read apple books during story time, learn about the letter "A", eat applesauce during snack, and explore apples in the discovery center.
Assessment
All students will be given a basic assessment three times a year in September, January, and May. This assessment measures knowledge of colors, letters, numbers, and shapes.
Each student will also be assessed through observations and rubrics which will monitor your child's progress based on the Texas Preschool Guidelines. These assessments will be given twice a year in November and May.
These assessment results will be shared with parents during parent/teacher conferences which will be scheduled three times a year.
